CARL AND NINA BLOOM

Nina and Carl Bloom
celebrate their 40th wedding Anniversary
March 11, 1919-1959

Carl Bloom was the fifth child born to John and Lotta Bloom who had immigrated to the United States from Sweden. They had homesteaded in Norton Township, Pennington County. Mr. Bloom had built a house before sending for his wife and year old son, John. Born in Rosewood where Anna, Selma, Alvina, Carl, Emil, Axel, Arthur, and Helmer.

Carl was born in 1891 and received his education in the rural school called Willow Dale of Norton Township.

In 1919 he was united in marriage to Nina Mellem Anderson and they farmed their land in sections 4 and 5 of Strip for 16 years when illness prevented continuing. They bought a house south of the railroad tracks in Rosewood where they made their home until retiring in Thief River Falls in 1955.

Nina was the daughter of Thornius and Pauline Mellem who had immigrated from Trysal, Norway in the fall of 1883 to Section 3 of New Solum Township.

She was married to Reverend Olaf A Anderson and to them, three sons were born: Andrew, Newell, and Lloyd. Andrew died as a newborn and is buried in the Rindal Cemetery. Newell died at 17 years as a result of a ruptured appendix. Lloyd died in October of 1967. Reverend Anderson died while vacationing with friends north of Birchdale, MN, his death certificate states Manitou, MN.

In 1959, Lloyd and Ella Anderson, Mrs. And Mrs. Ranstrom, and Carl and Nina all celebrated their anniversaries together at the Anderson home in Rosewood.

Mrs. Bloom died in 1963 and is buried at the Wildwood Cemetery at Rosewood. Carl maintained his own home for several years before moving to Valley Home. He died in May of 1984. Together, they had one child, LaVerne, also deceased.

Again, Old Trunks must say, how big the little Anderson livingroom was. They set the celebration table in the livingroom. It appears that along with the three couples celebrating their anniversary in March, at least two of Lloyd and Ella's children were present; Judy and Shirley.

To the hostess with the mostess, a toastess.
