A PERSON'S BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER

Rachel was born on October 1, 1966 in Thief River Falls, MN. The picture is of her and her grandparents, Lloyd and Ella Anderson when they lived in Rosewood, MN. Lloyd was 55; Ella 51. It was the Christmas holiday.

Ilene was there. She worried that Rachel would get the buttons off her dress and choke on them. Obviously she did not, as Rachel's daughter, Jaeme wore the dress for the picture in about 1999 and the buttons were still in place!

Rachel is one of the fortunate grandchildren of Julia Rye, Carl Bloom, and of course Lloyd and Ella as well as Grandpa Ranum, Grandma Mae, and her other grand parents Stan and Ella. She had pictures taken with all of them.

Rachel, like her two younger brothers, attended Schwegler Elementary School in Lawrence, KS followed by South Junior High, Lawrence High, and the University of Kansas.

One of the perks of working at a book store in Kearney, NE is getting out of date magazines, dozens of them over the course of time she worked there. The store also allowed her to take home the new best sellers to read. When did she have time to go to college and get another degree, this time in elementary education? How did she do that?

How did she memorize every rock in a college course while at KU?

How can she remember every dress she wore at each activity?

Does she remember every conversation/discussion she has had?

We always said she learns in chunks and she challenges herself. The amazing thing is, the information doesn't seem to run together, rather it is stored in a special place in a special way.

Dr. Scholle was right when he said she was heady. Meaning: Showing intelligence and good judgment.

I want to show my good judgment today and remember her birthday.

Rachel, we wish you a happy birthday!
