The Carl Mellem Family

We have established that Thorinus and Pauline had three sons who grew to manhood. We featured Emil recently. Today we focus on Carl. Carl, as we remember bought the homestead.

Carl married Minnie Holson from Warren, MN. Her sister, Lily Rafeseth, lived with her husband near Lloyd and Ella Anderson in Rosewood.

Carl and Minnie had four children:

Alice Vivian Mellem 5 25 1918

Fern LeDoris 5 18 1920

Sylvia Irene 3 6 1923

Chester LeRoy 5 25 1925

For those of you who are searching the Minnesota Historical Society for birth dates before 1935, be kind to yourself if you aren't getting hits. In looking up the Carl and Minnie Mellem children, Alice was listed as MELUM. Minnie's maiden name was spelled HALSON in two of the certificates.

JUNE 1917

We know from newspaper documents that Carl Mellem and Minnie Holson were married by Rev AO Anderson. It is the only marriage listed as performed by Reverend Anderson.
